Writing and Riding
Month 3: August 2025
A little late with this one, but so much has happened in the last month and a half.
First, let’s start off with the riding portion. I spent much of July focusing on riding for the big horse show I had coming up for the end of the month. That horse show went amazing. While I was riding, I learned a lot about myself. I need to work on breathing. I will be less anxious if I breathe more. I can memorise things better if I am in a place where I am stressed. I felt like a high school student memorising my notes the hour before the test.
The show was a great learning experience. I rode my horse for three hours that day in weather that would normally kill me. I was in a long sleeve shirt, long pants, baking under the sun. It was 97°F (36°C). It was some of my best riding yet, even if the tests did slightly worse than the first show. That’s okay. It’s about learning, not the blue ribbons. Though, the blue ribbons are a nice bonus. I trusted Shiloh with my whole heart, and he trusted me. I think our scores reflected what a good team we can be.
As for writing, I decided to go back to two old projects: Lost Zodiac and Unlikely Alliances. For August, I will dedicate most, if not all of my time, to finish drafting Unlikely Alliances. My goal is to see it through and have it published by May under a different pen name.
Lost Zodiac is a project I have been working on for many years, since 2022. I think it holds a special place in my heart, seeing as it is the first book I have ever published. And like first books, I think I may have rushed it. Well, I know I rushed it. I can’t wait to make it better and also publish it by May. It’s a story I want everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for reading!
Signing off,
Emersyn Hart
